The archetype of task:
charolette has a very important task. and that is to save wilburs life. charolette is the mentor to wilbur and in a way she is also the hero of the book even though wilbur is the main charactar, so i guess she is the sidekick. charolette is a mentor and friend because she teaches wilbur most of the things he knows, she is also like a mother always looking out for him and watching over him. charolette took ferns place as all of these things when she met wilbur. from there fern barely visited, and didnt baby wilbur anymore, so charolette took over wilbur.

" A spider can produce several kinds of thread. She uses a dry, tough thread for foundation lines, and she uses sticky thread for snare lines-the ones that catch and hold insects"- E.B.Ehite "intruding"(pg 93)
there are several moments in the book such as this quote when where E.B.White "intrudes" and tells us some facts about spiders either directly or through charolette. one example of such a moment other than this qoute is when charolette tells wilbur the names of her eight legs. i think that the reason that e.b.white does this is to give the audience insight on the real habits and nature of spiders, not just fictional charlotte who can talk. another reason that i think e.b.white does this is beacause of her love of spiders and their beauty. the reason i think this is beacuse when my ela teacher read aloud to us from a book called " charolettes web annotated" it had all these pictures and research about spiders. the reason this is important is because this is what adds a spark of non- fiction to this fiction book. it is what merges reality to the creativeness of the fiction world.

" There are a lot of things Wilbur doesn't know about life, he's really a very innocent little pig. He doesn't even know what's going to happen to him around christmastime; he has no idea that Mr.Zuckerman and Lurvy are plotting to kill him." - goose (pg 40)
when the goose htinks this out loud, it made me realize that she was right... wilbur was clueless about many things. fern and/or charolotte always fiull him in on whats going on. come to think of it... wilbur always has someone to take care of him, wether its fern at home or charloette command everyone to help him on the farm. i wonder if wilbur could even do anything or survive on his own? lets see.... if fern werent there to save wilbur when he was born, wilbur would be dead. if the goose didnt shout to wilbur where to run, wilbur would have been tackled fiercly insted of being lured by food. if the lamb hadn't told wilbur that he was about to be killed on christmas, he wouldve died b/c charlotte coundn't help him. so i think wilbur owes his life to pretty much everyone but himself.
